We love the artist's alliterative description of the scene: "Sanderlings scurry in seemingly synchronized strings seeking sustenance at the seashore. As we comb the beach for souvenir shells, these small stocky symbols of summer serenity run with the ebb and flow of the surf. Their bills can probe only a few centimeters, so they eagerly probe the soft sand exposed by the swirling, retreating water for crabs and other coveted crustaceans.
