Having lived in northwestern Pennsylvania all my life, I have many memories of time spent along the shores of Lake Erie. I remember finding beach glass for the very first time when I was at summer camp. I also remember collecting beach glass and pretty rocks with my son when he was a little boy.  Some of those treasures currently sit nestled in a jar in my living room. Indeed, Lake Erie and the treasures she shares are an integral part of my life.

I’ve always jumped at any opportunity to be creative, so it seems it was inevitable that my creativity would eventually flow through to the gifts Lake Erie has to offer.  Through my efforts, I’ve learned art is truly a process that requires a lot of patience and perseverance. It’s a process that can be invigorating, exciting and ultimately enlightening.  It can also be just so much fun!  There’s a quote by Gemma Troy that really speaks to me and the work I do:  “Whatever makes you feel the sun from the inside out, chase that.”

Every time I find a piece of beach glass, my heart does a little dance.  Beach glass has been tossed, tumbled and transformed (like many of us, it’s been through some stuff), and for me, beach glass symbolizes strength, resilience and grace.  I wanted to celebrate what it represents to me in a way that could bring joy to others.  This is ultimately the motivation for my beach glass creations.
