Leah Humphries is a mixed media artist showcasing her talents in local art galleries as well as her personal home studio. 

She is a graduate of Mercyhurst University with a BA in Design.

She is a 2009 recipient of Pennsylvania’s The Best 50 Women In Business Award as well as a 7 time ADDY Award Winner for Design Excellence.

After a year-long battle with cancer in January of 2018, Humphries found herself searching for the creative spark she felt was lost. She created a home art studio and began working on creative ideas that reflected her new lease on life. She is now officially cancer-free!

Statement on "Conversations" Exhibit (February 20-March 28, 2025):

The mixed media work is an exploration of modernity and movement, shaped by my background in fine art and graphic design. Each piece is a dialogue between form and function, where unexpected themes emerge and evolve.

The selection of my subject matter is an organic process, almost as if the subjects choose me. I embrace a fluid approach, allowing my style to evolve beyond the confines of any single genre. This journey often leads to surprising discoveries that push the boundaries of creativity and playfulness.

Color, movement, and texture are my guiding forces. Through collage and mixed media techniques, I build rich, layered narratives, with each piece offering its own unique interplay of texture and vibrancy.

Inspiration surrounds me, but I’m particularly drawn to the energy of global art and travel. The vibrant cultures of Spain, Italy, Portugal, and beyond shape my creative vision. Immersing myself in the world’s art museums allows me to draw from history and innovation alike.

Technically, I feel my work stands out for its fusion of materials and methods. I blend
collage, oil pastels, acrylics, colored pencil, graphite, and found objects to create
intricate, dynamic compositions. This interplay of techniques defines my artistic
signature, making each piece a singular and immersive experience for the viewer.
