Artist Bio:
I have been passionate about photography and art from a very young age. I was hooked from the minute I first held a Nikon film camera that was owned by one of my Aunt's Boyfriends when I was only 10 years old!
I have always been fascinated with the ability to freeze time with a photograph and I believe the invention of photography has had a profound impact on the world. It is the ultimate universal communication tool and transcends all languages barriers.
I graduated from Mercyhurst University in 1984 with a dual degree in Graphic Arts and Business Marketing. Although I loved photography and art, it was difficult to make a full time living doing it. Photography always remained as the perfect hobby and a great stress reliever from the pressure of my various sales and management positions in the Commercial Insurance Industry.
My excitement for photography really blossomed with the photographic digital revolution that happened almost 20 years, ago providing me with so much more creative control over my work. The digital revolution also has blurred the line between photography and art, allowing me to combine these two passions in much of my work. I use photoshop and lightroom to enhance and transform my photography and I also print, mat, and frame all the pieces I sell, giving me complete control over the quality of my final product.
Photography provides me with the opportunity to slow down and explore the little things and the beauty of nature that we often miss with our hectic lifestyles. I specialize in fine art photography but do find it difficult to specialize in just one type of photography. The longer I am alive, the more I realize how much I don't know and that drives me to continue to learn and educate myself about the craft.
In 2020, I retired after 30 years in the commercial insurance industry and am now able to devote much more time to my passion!
