Spring Awakenings pairs expressive floral and abstract paintings with expertly crafted ceramic vessels adorned with botanical motifs, exploring the many ways artists interpret nature through paint and clay.

Ceramic artist Peggy Quinn creates distinctive wheel-thrown pottery in her backyard studio surrounded by the rural beauty of Erie County. Drawing influence from both contemporary craft potters and the traditions of Chinese and Japanese ceramics, her work balances timeless elegance and cultural reverence with a fresh personal aesthetic. For this exhibition, Quinn presents brightly colored vases, jars, and bowls featuring floral imagery that captures the spirit of the season, inviting the freshness of spring indoors.

Painter and multimedia artist Adele Larsen expresses a deep connection to the natural world through paintings and mixed-media works rooted in a lifelong love of nature. The landscapes of Presque Isle State Park- its beaches, woodlands, and shifting light- have long been a subject for her plein air work, alongside botanicals, waterscapes, and still life subjects inspired by local scenery and travels abroad. Working in watercolor, oil, mixed media, and stoneware clay, Larsen experiments with perspective, color, and mark-making to move between realism and abstraction, revealing unexpected viewpoints and symbolic meaning within everyday subjects.

Together, Quinn and Larsen offer a rich celebration of the season, inviting visitors to experience spring through expressive painting and beautifully crafted ceramics.
