I want to believe that everyone’s reality could somehow yield unseen things. To assist the viewer in this I set up situations where certain conditions are met that unlock spaces that are typically invisible. It may be that a body of water may entice the viewer to cross into newly found spaces, or that a mountain transposed with a grid may be transparent enough to show its hidden secrets. The key is to create a consistent structure for one reality and at the same time create a feeling that a whole different place exists along side of it. Then I could possibly persuade my viewers to fill in suggestive or abstract areas of the painting with ideas of their own, thereby making the unseen visible and at the same time transporting them to their own personal fantasy worlds.
