    Artist Statement:

As an artist, I prefer to paint from direct observation, which lends the images freshness and authenticity. Of the two genres represented here, the Still Life images are studies of found form and color. The rich hues and realistic look of the pictures are the result of carefully observed layers of oil paint built up over time. In contrast, my Landscapes attempt to show an experience of nature. The rapid and gestural mark-making capture the light and space of an immediate moment in time.
