Jane Davis is a resident of Erie, PA, transplanted from the Pacific Northwest. She studied art direction and illustration at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle WA. Jane is drawn to the abundant natural beauty of the area and never tires of the scenery. Endless supplies of light and shadow among silent tree settings, so prevalent in the immediate vicinity, offer Jane chances to photograph different landscapes on long walks and to paint them indoors. Preferred media are acrylics and oil pastels.
Jane’s work has been displayed at Glass Growers Gallery, The Erie Art Museum, Meadville Fine Arts Gallery, Art and Education at the Hoyt Art Center, and various local venues. Jane participates in regional competitions and has won awards from them
Landscapes take us to another place in our lives, from the past or to the future. A painting can evoke a full spectrum of feelings every time it is seen. Familiar places and paintings of them are old friends and provide great comfort as well as excitement. The "Redsylvania" Series is about looking up, renewing, reassessing, moving on and through obstacles, appreciating beauty and learning to look differently at the world around us.
